Your own backyard...
I have trouble understanding many of the objections to the proposed Gunns pulp-mill in the Tamar Valley.
One of the main objections is that the local wine-growers will suffer. I'm amazed, Moorilla Vineyard (multi-award winning) is located within sight of the Nyrstar Zinc Smelter. It's one of the largest, if not the largest, zinc smelter in the world. The zinc smelter/refinery has been at that site for more than 90 years and Moorilla has been growing grapes nearby for more than 50 years. They manage to co-exist and both enterprises have prospered. I fail to see that this would be any different for vineyards near the proposed pulp-mill.
Another objection I have trouble understanding is that of Sydney residents against the proposed mill. Sydney residents need to fix up their own back-yard before worrying about Tasmania. Sydney residents pump their raw sewage into the ocean.
The three main sewage treatment plants in Sydney are North Head, Bondi and Malabar. These are only primary treatment plants. Primary treatment essentially means they mash it up and pump it out. Those three plants pump out 922,000,000 litres of raw sewage every day! So all those millions of dollars of Harbour properties are built on the destruction of the environment. What Sydney residents care about this massive pollution of the Pacific Ocean is limited to the beachs. Yet they pump hundreds of tonnes (200) of heavy metals and more than twenty tonnes of organochlorines into the once pure waters of the Pacific Ocean every year.
Tasmanians, stand up and stop this massive pollution. Sydney needs to get it’s nearly billion litres of sewerage discharging every day into the ocean under control. It’s a national disgrace.

It's a great information about Sydney's main problem in their vineyard. If they encounter such a problem as this one they must come up with a various idea where in the possible solution may arise.

I never have been a huge fan of wine. There are just way to many of them to try to even begin to decide witch one that I like. I say don't worry about it, I think we have to many alcoholics as it is.
